Fantasy Makeup is the art of taking makeup and creating a fantasy character. This is sometimes referred to as transformational makeup. This is a very popular for film and television, Halloween or even just for fun. Popular transformational makeup artists include: Tom Savini, Ricki Baker, and Todd Masters (to name just a few).
To achieve the transformation it requires time, patience and the proper tools. Without a doubt the most important tools include quality makeup and brushes. The makeup should be high pigment and the brushes should be durable and high quality.
Many Fantasy Makeup pieces also use prosthetics to accomplish the project. Such as: prosthetic ears, noses and scalps and usually require the eyebrows to be covered up with latex so the eyebrows can then be redrawn in different areas or left off completely.
There are many reasons why Fantasy Makeup would need to be used, but most cases include: alien, demonic character (vampire, demon, witch, etc), fairy, age progression, etc.
